What We Believe
We Believe In God - We believe in one God, expressed in the unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is the creator and rightful ruler of everything and everyone, and is worthy of all honour and glory (Revelation 4:11). The Trinity shows that a perfect relationship is at the heart of who God is, and when God created humans he also made us for relationship with himself (2 Corinthians 13:14).
We Believe In The Gospel (The Good News) - Our relationship with God was broken when we turned against him and tried to rule our lives and world without him (Romans 3). The Bible calls this sin, and warns us that our sinful rebellion ultimately brings death (Romans 6:23) by separating us from God and making us his enemies. God would be perfectly just to let us face the punishment we’ve earned (Jesus himself spoke often about the reality of Hell, as in Matthew 13:24-50), but he has graciously provided a way for our sin to be forgiven and for us to be brought back into a right relationship with himself (Romans 5:1-11). He did this through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who willingly took our sin and the punishment we deserved because of it on himself (2 Corinthians 5:17-21). God now invites everyone, everywhere to come to him through Jesus (Revelation 22:17). This salvation cannot be earned, but must be accepted as a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) through repentance, which is turning away from our sin, and faith, which means turning towards God through Jesus in trust and obedience (Isaiah 55:6-7, Titus 2:11-14, 1 Peter 2:24).
We Trust In God’s Word - The Bible shows us who God is, how he has worked through history, what he has done to provide salvation, and what it means to live in a right relationship with him. We believe that the Bible is completely true and trustworthy and that it is the full and final authority on all matters of belief and behaviour (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
We Love People - We believe that all people are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) for relationship with Him and with each other. We follow the example of God when we love and value all people, and we long to see everyone brought back to a right relationship with God through Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:19).
